Gateway Landscaping fell 13-5 to the Laverock Plumbing A’s on Wednesday night in North Bay men’s Baseball League action.
Gateway started off on a good foot as they got on the board in the first inning after Steven Antler singled, scoring two runs.
Laverock Plumbing A’s captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first after Tyrus Cuculick tripled, Chris Dowdall doubled, and John Kennedy grounded out, each scoring one run.
Laverock Plumbing A’s added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Cuculick walked, and Adam Lanholm doubled, each scoring one run. Laverock Plumbing A’s scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cuculick doubled, scoring one run, Adam Campbell doubled, scoring two runs, Mason Blais singled, scoring one run, and Mike Dowdall drew a walk, scoring one run.
Mat Blanchfield stepped on the hill first for Gateway Landscaping. They surrendered 10 hits and 10 runs over four innings, striking out three and walking six. Kennedy began the game for Laverock Plumbing A’s.
The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Antler drove the middle of the lineup, leading Gateway Landscaping with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-2 on the day.
Laverock Plumbing A’s piled up 14 hits in the game. Campbell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Laverock Plumbing A’s with three runs batted in. They went 3-for-4 on the day. Campbell and Dowdall each collected three hits for Laverock Plumbing A’s. Dowdall, Cuculick, and Lanholm each collected multiple hits for Laverock Plumbing A’s.
In the late game, C21 Mongster’s and East Side Mario’s tied 6-6 on Wednesday at Veteran’s Field. C21 Mongster’s got on the board in the top of the first inning after Eddie Pigeau walked, Jack Bennison walked, Ben Ostojic – S walked, and Jason Dewar singled, each scoring one run.
East Side Mario’s tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth thanks to two doubles. East Side Mario’s tied the game at six on a double by Martin Audette. Ben Ostojic started on the mound for C21 Mongster’s.
They gave up seven hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking three. Jason Marchand started on the mound for East Side Mario’s. They surrendered three hits and four runs over one inning, striking out none and walking four.
Cam Grainger and King Mong each collected two hits for C21 Mongster’s. Bennison, Carson Berry, Pigeau, Ostojic and Dewar each drove in one run for C21 Mongster’s. Bennison paced C21 Mongster’s with two walks.
East Side Mario’s accumulated 10 hits in the game. Damon Topolie provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led East Side Mario’s with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day.
Nick Morin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead East Side Mario’s in hits. Audette and Jacob Brown each collected multiple hits for East Side Mario’s.
East Side Mario’s turned one double play in the game. Next up for C21 Mongster’s is a game against Assante Wealth on Monday.
