A product booth designed by and an installation named Terminal 02, created by ‘ industrial design studio , both featured elements informed by flowing water.
Taking place at , Terminal 02 was designed to showcase , a limited edition smart also designed by (pictured at the top of the article).
Described by Kohler as having a brutalist silhouette, Formation 02 has an asymmetric shape with textured surfaces made from orange-rendered composite resin.
Industrial pipes were set between grand pillars at the Palazzo del Senato to form a maze-like installation that led visitors to the toilet.
The idea behind the installation was to combine elements of natural landscape with industrial and scale engineering.
For its product booth at , Kohler Company presented designs from its brands Kohler, , and , working with Yabu Pushelberg to create a space that aimed to combine art, design, technology and wellbeing.
Textured facades, designed to bring to mind moving water, enclosed curved spaces that displayed fittings and fixtures.
The pipes also were intended to communicate water in motion, according to the company. Visitors followed the various pipes, which had contrasting shapes and textures.
Behind the eye-catching installation were Kohler’s products, ranging from faucets, bathtubs, futuristic showers and saunas.
As the first display booth designed by Yabu Pushelberg in Milan, the studio worked closely with Kohler to produce a design that sought to combine luxurious, cutting-edge design with well-being.
Well-being, combined with luxury, purpose and innovation were themes the company was eager to emphasise with both installations.
Among the products on display were the Anthem + digital showering system from Kohler, the S11 free-standing sauna by Klafs, and Kohler’s concept smart toilet, Numi 2.0, which features integrated electronic ink to create colourful, customisable patterns on its surfaces.
